Day 1 - Happy 6th Birthday
289 days begin today
We celebrated a lovely young human today. As cliche as it seems, I genuinely cannot believe how quickly we got here.
I work as a designer and plan to use this blog as a way to document this strange stretch of time. But not like a journal, I'm hoping to create something every day, not sure what that will be, but time will tell I guess. I have been doing a deep dive into collage lately. Enjoying making digital collages and the next step is making them move a little. But obviously, the father daughter relationship has been on my mind, so that is the brief explanation for the art today.
My daughter had a kick ass day that started with her breakfast request of pancakes topped with birthday cake ice cream, turkey bacon and pomegranate seeds. I got her favorite donuts to take to school and recreated a photo that has now, somewhat coincidentally, been taken the last 3 or 4 years.
So here we go, I have a 6 year old and she is totally awesome. You know what I haven't mentioned here yet? I also have a 4 year old and an 19 month old and they are both totally awesome too. It's fun how these kids have inspired me in a whole new way. The time I used to spend creating art to impress others, is now time reserved creating stuff to put a smile on their face. I think in a perfect world, maybe this silly blog will put a smile on someones face. It feels slightly more intentional than social media and social media is really grossing me out these days.
If I was my dad, I would have 289 days left with my 6 year old child. Its weird how the sorrow of losing him has shifted to just feeling sorry for him. I cant imagine not being around these little Rugrats and seeing what weird things they have to say or do. For example, over the weekend, in like an Italian mob boss accent my daughter said, "nice bum, you from Ireland?"
